Most often we hear that another news agency, Telegram or YouTube channel has been designated a “foreign agent” or an “undesirable organization”. Media outlets are the largest group on the list of “undesirables.”
Meanwhile, this list includes organizations from 27 different fields, and media outlets make up only 30%. The rest are human rights organizations, research and educational associations, organizations for the protection of nature or human rights.
The poster shows how “undesirable” organizations are distributed by area of activity and how the share of media outlets in the list of foreign agents and unwanted organizations has been changing by year.
The data from the Ministry of Justice clearly shows: the number of areas that the state seeks to control has grown dramatically in the last 12 years. And these areas are represented not only by media outlets.
